My recent trip to Singapore is another gastronomical experience. Our geng is indeed food lovers and we cannot escape from the fact that there is so much good food around us.

Back-dated to last Wednesday, 29.08.2007, thankfully I had taken the day off because I was doing last-minute packing and final meeting with the two Lynn sisters who were going off to their study places in a few more days. Not going to be around to send them off. This time around, I had packed quite lightly. There wasnt any guilty feeling of over-packing.

Our flight arrived early at JB and we immediately departed to Singapore using a pre-arranged transportation. We got a little lost when we tried to look for our accomodation at Joo Chiat. When we finally found it, we discovered that we were so near at the beginning of our search (when we thought we were lost). Our accomodation this time is graciously provided by Kelvin's Dad. A small but stylishly-designed 2-room apartment. Because we hadnt have dinner yet, Kelvin's Dad drove us all out to East Coast Lagoon Food Village. I had a pretty tasteless bowl of beef noodle. Wrong stall. Should have gone for the long queue stall. Sigh. Apart from the food, we were also awed by the dedication of the parking attendants who work at night to make sure each car has a parking coupon displayed on their car dashboard. Singapore Government very 'keng' le! Anyways, after the dinner, we get a tour around Geylang, Singapore's red light district. Yea, the amount of prostitutes there is... ermm...a lot.

Second day. According to our schedule, we are supposed to try to find Katong popiah and Katong laksa and tried them. But unfortunately, we have no idea to find such food. After walking along the shops at Joo Chiat Road (or was it Lane?), we think we did bought popiah from a stall. Not bad la...

More shopping... Loads of walking. Esprit, Top Shop, G2000, etc. etc. We took our time to look around. Then, we found this place which sells Chocolate Fondue. Yum~~~~!!! We sat down and made our order.

We went to Lucky Plaza and then off to Manchester United merchandises-hunting. We didnt find any. It was a disappointment. We did get a clue of where it might be when we went window-shopping at Hard Rock Cafe. Then, we ate Burger King for dinner. After dinner, we decided we had enough for the day. So, we headed back home.

That, sort of, sums up what happen on the second day of Singapore Trip 2007.

Back from Singapore

Hey hey

Back from Singapore since Wednesday. Been having flu and sleeping a lot. Dont know how to say it but I was really tired and so I slept most of the time.

Havent got the pictures from the trip yet. It is all with Aaron so after i get from him, I will start compiling for my blog post.

Meanwhile, please wait patiently... Hehe...Oh! I realised that I have been tagged but dont plan to do it yet cause at this moment, it is way past my sleeping time and so i should be sleeping not onlining. :P

More makan-makan

Firstly, the outings with cousins.
Halo Cafe seems to be the hang-out place we go to nowadays. It is not a good place for chit-chatting though. Anyways, Lynnwei and Lynthia went to Halo Cafe on last two Thursday nights ago after an unfruitful shopping trip at Imperial. The most memorable of that night is about the HK drama that Lynnwei was telling me about which I am very interested to watch now. :P

Then, we (Lynnwei, Lynnx and I) went to Desserts on Wednesday night. Sort of sitting there chatting and looking through magazines.

Erm... Talking about Halo Cafe. Went there for the first time to support Kueh for the singing competition. Then, second time to support Kueh for the semi-final and finally, on Thursday, the final round.

Had the Sunshine Fish chop which is quite delicious and very fulfilling. Went there as early as 6pm so that we can get a big table to fit everyone. I didnt leave my seat from 6pm till 10pm. Straight 4-hour sitting. I cant believe myself either. So tiring.

Kueh is the Participant no. 6 and it took a pretty long time to wait for him to perform. Anyways... here are the videos of his performance. Kind of noisy though. He only got a consolation prize btw.

Erm... On Monday, office got broken into. Scary. To think that I am the first one to open the office door. Dont dare to go to office so early anymore.

Unlucky

Talk about being completely "SOI"

I have been in total soi-ness recently.

My car started to break down... At first, the aircond broke down... After two weeks, the aircond broke down again. After it was fixed, the engine leak oil like mad. After that is fixed, the car doesnt have much brake. When I thought the car is fixed, the mechanic told me the aircond broke down. When I got the car back without fixing the aircond, the brake has little improvement from its previous 'no brake' situation. The car alignment is also a little off and the stupid mechanic fixed the car till it has an even weirder and noisier noise that he blamed on the tyre that has just been replaced about one month ago. Damn!

I had it! I am not fixing the car for the time being. Jinnwei is going back to studying so I will be the only one driving the car. Dont think my dad will want to drive it since it is without aircond. He has been avoiding driving the car. Previously he would drive the car regardless whether I need the car or not.

Then, there is my slippers. My only two pairs of slippers. Both of them broke off. I was slipper-less.

But, I got myself a new pair of slippers instead.

I feel so drained physically and emotionally. Frustration.

Drink more plain water!!!

My mum told me a devastating news about my niece. At a young age of 21, she has kidney failure. She had to do kidney dialysis three times a day in order to extract the excess unprocessed liquid in her body. There was a time after she did the diaylsis, she actually dropped 5kg. That is how bad her water retention is...

She has once graced Borneo Post and the famous Kenny Sia's blog simply because her IC was found and then published in Borneo Post.

I wanted to write a very devastating and touching story about her but I think that it is not right so instead... DRINK MORE WATER!

Not soft drink! Not naturally or artifically sweetened water! BUT plain water...

Drink up to 8 glasses of water...which should equals to 2 litre of water?

And... if drinking alcohol, make sue to drink more plain water because alcohol actually make the liver work harder so you need to drink more water to lessen the burden for the liver.

Hmm.. I have a lot of pics in my handphone that I planned to post but havent post yet. So, now, I am going to do it.

Some time ago, had a chance to taste Pizza hut's latest pizza, Cheesy bites. Erm... It was so-so.

Then, there is this recent lunch at the Taiwanese Restaurant. I, sort of, fell in love with their Ja Jiang Mien. Love the taste of the sauce. Gosh... I am so hungry now. Erm... Didnt really fully enjoyed the fried dumpling though. 'Cause too full after consuming the noodle.

Oh! Halo Cafe is one of the latest addition to Miri's night spots. Went there twice so far with Lynnwei and to support Kueh.

The first time. Lynnwei and I shared a Ceasar Salad. I had Jasmine Tea and Lynnwei had something Float.

The second trip... Lynnwei and I shared the Gong Bow Squid. That will be my pot of Rose Tea with real rose buds in it.

J-Drama? K-Drama?

I think people is such a funny creature. I am refering to myself specifically. When I was working very hard during peak period, I promised myself that I will watch the k-drama that Jac lent me and also the hongkie drama that I have gotten Chinos to burn for me long ago.



But instead.... ever since I had my new laptop and the introduction of veoh by jinnwei, I have been downloading k-drama and j-drama to watch. Actually, it has been more like downloading like crazy but didnt really watch much.

I was originally attracted to this k-drama, Mawang aka The Devil, which is acted by my favourite actor, Joo Ji Hoon. After a few episodes, Hling got me the dvd from the chinese lady seller. I watched the final episode. I am that impatient. And ever since then, I have not been watching this series but I am still in the progress of downloading the version with english subtitle. Since I have started downloading a few episodes, I thought might as well download the whole thing and burn it into a dvd and save it for future entertainment. :P

Then, at the same time, I was also attracted to this k-drama, Witch Yoo Hee aka Witch Amusement. It is a very light-hearted and funny drama. Erm... Actually, I enjoyed the beginning of the drama but not so sure about the ending because I sort of stopped watching it. :P

Why did I stopped watching Witch Yoo Hee? Because I was attracted by another K-drama, The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. Muahaha.... I am currently still watching and waiting for this drama because the drama is still showing and filming in Korea and english subtitle requires time to come out in veoh. Since Coffee Prince requires time to be available for downloading, I diverted my attention to this J-Drama, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e aka Hana Kimi aka Japanese version of Hua Yang Shao Nian Shao Nu. One thing I like about J-Drama is that they are not fussy at all. They get straight to the point without being so lo-so about everything. I did try to watch the Taiwanese version and found myself so disgusted and sick of the lo-so-ness within 5 minutes of the show that I stopped immediately. After immersing myself into the world of K-drama and J-drama, I found myself blurting out bits and pieces of Korean and Japanese words in my daily life. Cham lo.... Nan Da Yo?!

On a different issue, I went to watch Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix with Joanna and Ms Wee. I enjoyed it despite of several negative response from friends. And i found myself impatient to know the ending to this Harry Potter epic so I actually got to know the whole story from Kim. Hehe...

Which brings me to another point that is I found myself being really impatient recently. I cannot stand waiting for a long time and easily get irritated and rather give it up then wait for any longer. Dont think this is a good habit. Sigh...

My best friend is going to get married next year. Her bf has proposed to her and she asked me to get some bridal tips for her and post a blog at wgtgfashion. I am very excited about this post because I have always been interested in bridal stuff. My mind is reeling with ideas of what to write but as usual, I am worried that all these ideas might be gone before I can write it down. The ideas are not yet concrete as I need to research more on them.

Self-invited to my mentor's church wedding at St Joseph Cathedral on 7th July 2007. Applied an hour and a half leave to go with HLing because it is working day. The Roman Catholic style church wedding is, well, boring. The church is not as big as I thought it is. Hehe...The bride is beautiful though.

Food. I just got to talk about food. The Sunday Family Buffet at Cafe Rosita was so stomach-filling that my stomach wanted to burst out in a million pieces. Ok, not that bad la. Just really really really full. Thanks, Uncle and Auntie Wong!!

My love for food

I have been on a food trip.. One food after another...Wonder if I have gained a lot of weight. I dont want to stand on scale and see my weight increase again. Serves me right if it does.

Firstly, I have two outings with cousins at Siamese Secrets and Shiki. Since lynnx01 has written about it, I can save my time and brain juice. Hehe...

Since JWei is back at home and I dont cook at home, we go out for food.

Pork Liver Soup & Buttery Prawn Omelette Rice

We had the Pork Liver Soup at Riam Willow Cafe with Dry Pok Mee. It has a lot of ginger in it but it was ok. The Buttery Prawn Omelette Rice is from Double Star. It has seaweed pieces sprinkled on it. The prawns are of a decent size so it is pretty good.

On Friday night, I went to Imperial Hotel with the geng for the July Ocean Gem buffet. This buffet is the first buffet I felt that I have truly went thru everything on display, eaten all that I want without feeling too full. I did feel very full after that though.

Hehe... Has another session of cam-whoring one night. It has been a long time since I have taken pics of myself.

Recently I am very interested in K-Drama. Been trying to watch three dramas at once. Mawang, Witch Yoo Hee and 1st Shop of Coffee Prince. Not only that, watched a K-movie called 200 pound Beauty. A funny, romantic and inspirational movie. No, not influential enough to make me want to get plastic surgery.

Going to have another buffet this Sunday. Cant wait.

Backlogged?

Is it how to call it? To look back and write what has happened quite sometimes ago?

I have been very busy at work during the past month. Went to Brunei for a weekend because Mum enrolled me to this workshop in Brunei. It is a motivational workshop by this Taiwanese guy.

Firstly.... need to say how reluctant I was to go to this workshop. It is because I was told that it was held specially for primary and secondary school students. Erk.. What is this working person doing there for?! Without a single doubt, I should be the eldest participant in this workshop. Not only that, I am alone. No friends. Urgh.... I really dont want to go but I went anyway.

So forlorn... So upset that my migraine come back.

At the end of first day, I had an unusual experience. A body-close experience. I cant say it out here... Too embarrassing.

Anyways... Mum and I had Excapade's Japanese Dinner and I have the honour of ordering. Hmmm... We did mistakenly ordered a sushi with salmon skin and it tasted so weird. Bad choice...

Second day... I just join in the fun and really had fun the whole day till the speaker decided to do this session which is supposed to be very touching and strong and emotional and in my honest opinion, sucks big time. Too serious lor... The speaker seems to have forgotten that his listeners also consist of children that are in primary school. Even for me lor...or maybe I am not open enough. I already have a principle of my own so I cannot accept his into myself. Below are the bunch of principles that he taught. I got to admit that some of the life lessons he taught are quite true. Too bad it is in chinese and my chinese is really only three quarter full la... Note that it is not half bucket full cause I think I am ok ok in Chinese.

I thought my Mum so hebat to know this kind of activity that is happening in Brunei then I discovered that my dad and her have attended workshops held by this speaker. And it is organized by Nulife, the company that insisted that they are not into direct-sale but into level marketing which my Mum was very into quite a few years ago. Now she only join it for the sake of the supplement pills that she takes everyday.

We had this really supposedly emotional farewell. I must be really cold-hearted because I felt that the whole thing is so funny and I didnt shed a tear at all.

Then because it is Fathers' Day so every dad in the hall were invited to go up the stage. All went except for my super cool Dad. He refused to go and so Mum was angry at him. He said he can see what is happening so much better from where he is sitting at the moment. Cool huh?

After the thing is all over, we went to Excapade again. To celebrate Father's Day.

Excapade's meal...Jelly Fish, Golden Needle mushroom with butter, Lamb, Unagi Avocado Sushi, Beef, California Maki (Not in pic), Asparagus wrapped with Salmon, Raw Salmon (Not in pic)... Oh...Salivating again...

The next day, after breakfast, rushed back to Miri and worked really hard for the rest of the week and the week after because there wasnt much time left!!

So busy

I have been very very busy. Work. It is the time of the year.
Chai and I were talking about breaking new records.
Last year...I broke the record by working at office till 3am. Working from 8am till 3am and then 8am till 3am again. Just like a robot. My battery is the music from my handphone.
This year...I broke the record by...sleeping for only 45 minutes...which means work for more than 24 hours, almost 48 hours.
Note that my boss didnt torture me... Work includes my own work...
Oh... by the way... Chai also broke a few records this year.
Record number one is packing her bags and sleepover at my place so that she can work late at office.Record number two is working from 10pm to 12 midnight to 1am. Note that she only work latest till 11pm if she has to go back to her home. Record number three is sleeping at 3am. She never did this before. She is such an early sleeper so 3am is a huge record.
Err... so sleepy till cannot think liaw...
Erm.. give me a few more days. I should have a normal life again in next week. Argh...

First Laptop

hahaha... I finally got myself a new laptop. Never had a new laptop or pc bought under my influence before. I have always used the pc bought by yuanz long ago. That pc has been used for...err...at least...for more than six years...cause I remember using it for the whole university years. It is so old that whenever I told ppl that it only has 10gig memory and 64kb RAM, they would tell me that it is time to change a new one. Sometimes the old pc will 'merajuk' and refuse to start. But it would always recover when I bring it to the pc shop. However, it has finally decided to go dead on me a few weeks ago.

Time to move on. Presenting my new laptop. Dell...80gig...err...i dunno how many RAM la..haha...


Time to go all emotional... ~Fake a tear and say the all of the below in a very grateful voice~

Firstly, I need to thank my lovely mum for lending me the money for this new laptop. I promised I will pay the money back asap.

Second, my wonderful brother, yuanz, for lending the usage of his credit card to purchase this laptop and also to lend me the other one third of the money for this laptop. Again, I promise I will pay the money... in a few months time and in several instalment la..hehehe

Thirdly, Lynnx for providing such a long list of blogs so that I can easily bookmark the blogs that i often read. Without that list on her blog, I will probably not be able to read some of the blogs I always read. Hehe...

I actually dont know what to do with this new laptop... I sort of gotten used to the old pc that I learnt not to do anything at all.

Oh..Did I mention that the purchase of this laptop also come with a webcam and an inkjet printer/ scanner?

A Short Break From Work

It is a long weekend holidays in Sarawak due to Hari Gawai and... err...That should be it.

Actually going to spend this long weekend working in the office. But I went to Brunei instead. For a two days one night trip. With Laura, Kelvin and Aaron.

After a morning of work, I left the office to have lunch with the three of them and then off we went to Brunei. We first went to Naafi for a little retail therapy. After Naafi, we headed to my home, which I cant remember how to go anymore. The journey got more exciting as the weather turned worse, raining super heavily. I hate driving in the rain and hate it even more if it rains very heavily. Fortunately, I am not the one driving.

After a wrong turn and two phone calls, we finally arrived at my home at Brunei to drop off some stuff and getting some spending money from Mum. After that, we went to Hua Ho Mall and did some window shopping.

We spent the night at Traders Inn. Brunei is a place that there is nothing much to do at night. Not much nightlife la... After waiting like an idiot for one hour, we went to get our dinner at Excapade Japanese Restaurant. Yuanz joined in and we all get free dinner. Yea! Thanks, Big Bro~! Luv U~!

Like I said, Brunei at night is really...boring. So we stayed in our room and played rummy. Yes, rummy. We rearranged the furniture in the room and improvised the luggage table as the table.

The next day, we had Dim Sum breakfast at Lucky Restaurant with my parents. After a short good-byes, we went shopping at Centrepoint and The Mall. We had lunch at Swensen's...but I really dont feel like eating so Aaron and I had dessert only.

Hilarious

Each time a movie come out and if it is a great-selling movie, you can see the sale of the imitation things selling everywhere. Some cheap-looking plush dolls will be created or the photos books (which contains pics you can easily find in the internet) on the book shelves.

Today, I saw the black spiderman plush doll at Servay Hypermarket. Note that I said BLACK Spiderman, not the usual RED & BLUE spiderman.

It is amazing how the business people can come out with and in such a short time.

Didnt take any photos 'cause sort of in a hurry.

But if you want to get a laugh, just go to Servay Hypermarket. It is placed right at the entrance.

Another busy week

Went to Coffee Bean with Tomato and Nanotay on Sunday to use my RM20 voucher. It is expiring on the 22nd so have to be used already. Just a quick look around at the horses at Taman Selera then off to Bintang Plaza to do some shopping and Coffee Bean drinking.

Had migraine for a lot of days. Didnt take any painkiller because I took it on the first day I had migraine and it didnt work.

Missed my Goong cds that contains pics, videos, and mp3s of Goong. Dont know where have I put it. Darn~!

Ohye~! Went to watch Spiderman 3 last Thursday. It was...err...ok. Nothing much to comment about.

Since my old pc is down, I have been using yuanz laptop but it cant detect the digicam or my handphone's memory card or my handy drive. It drove me crazy that I cant post any picture and thus, numbing me from writing any post. But later, I did something and the laptop begin to recognise my handphone. So...I am now writing about a lot of things that has happened.

The events did not happen in the following order. Just randomly arranged.

Today, went to Parkson and had a shoe fever. I want to get a new shoes as my gold working/normal wear shoes is getting worn-out. I really try to make sure that I buy when I need it and the gold shoes looks like it will give up on me anytime soon. So, I bought a new one as a back-up. Vincci is having sale again and after walking around the shop for the second time, I finally bought this pair. It is different from my usual style and despite looking a bit purplish and pinkish in the photo, it is actually black with silver lining ribbon. I think it is a bit on the serious and mature side. Planning to get another pair soon. Hehe...

On Saturday morning, Joanna told us all in the office that there are horses at Taman Selera and available for riding till Sunday. Apparently, our Miri City Mayor Wee got the people in Bintulu to bring over the horses for our entertainment for the Miri City Celebration. Joanna and I went there today during noon time and I got to ride on the horse. I didnt want to at first but later, decided to do so as it is a rare opportunity. It was fun. Later that day, I brought Lynthia & HuiNing to see the horses and Lynthia rode on one.

Part Three - Getting off the horse

Went to Curtin Alumni Gathering at Music Corridor, Eastwood Golf Course on 12th May. Err... Actually didnt feel like going but ended going there. Met quite a number of people and had conversations with them. Erm... Dont know la. It is a bit weirdish for me because I think I didnt know them well enough when I was in Curtin and dont really know what to talk about.


This week, I wasnt feeling too well. In fact, I got a little feverish on one of the days. Apart from that, I was also suffering from migraine. The migraine lasted for about a week and I am still having it now. On Thursday (17th May), I had Dave Deli's Chicken Mushroom Pie and Chicken & Mushroom Soup.


Finally, a pot of (still-in-making)lemon tea on Saturday night(19/05). Just thought that the look of the lemon slices in the pot looks cute. The reason for the lemon tea is for the iced drink for barbeque much later on the evening. There are supposed to be photos of the barbeque but because the laptop cannot detect the digicam's memory card, I cant post the pics.


Well... Situation at work is improving if I can get all the doubts in my assignments cleared. Once it is cleared, I will be eliminating quite a number of names from my long list of assignments.
